Costumes & Uniforms
Replicawarehouse offers a very wide range of period costumes made by expert costumiers delivering everything from hand-stitched clothing for Museums and Stately Homes to robust and practical costumes for Schools, Film and TV.
Many of our costumes are copies of surviving Museum items or made from original period patterns. Where possible we use period tools and techniques. We can re-create completely authentic costumes or work to a level of accuracy to suit your needs and budget.
This costume shows a gown of the 1770s which our costume expert Lesley Edwards made for The Wordsworth House Museum. The colour was changed to red to suit the Museum project, but the cut and construction were faithfully followed from the original. Lengths of cording on the inside of the gown enable the skirt to be ruched up to create the fashionable “Polonaise” of the period.
